As the Pakistani drama industry starts in 1964 by PTV which was a private company of Japan.
In 1970 PTV was nationalized by Government. Firstly, the transmission was black and white. PTV switched the black and white transmission in 1990.
1970 to 1990 is considered as the best era of the drama industry in South Asia.
In 2001 with the Indian channel Star plus our drama industry face unexpected decline but with the arrival of new private channels like HUM TV, ARY, GEO TV once again grasped the attention of viewers till now.

Pak dramas are a world wild famous. The dramas are popular in the Middle East, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and among Pakistani diaspora all over the world. In 2013the Pakistani drama, “Humsafar” was dubbed into Arabic and broadcast in the Middle East under the title “Rafeeq-Al-Rooh”. The show was an immediate, popular, success and became the most-watched drama on the channel. After Humsafar, other shows such as “Malaal” under the title of “Hob-Wa-Nadam” and “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” under the title of “Asrar Al Hob” broadcast.
In India, Pakistani dramas are very famous as “Zindgi Gulzar Hai” becomes so popular, because of public demand it was re-run in India.
